Dubai: The President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has passed away at the age of 73 years.
The UAE’s official news agency confirmed the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and said that 40 days of mourning had been declared for the president.
According to media reports, there will be a 40-day mourning period and a three-day public holiday on the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which the national flag will remain unfurled.
According to the presidential official announcement, there would be a three-day holiday in the federal public and private sectors.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been the ruler of the UAE since November 3, 2004, and took over the leadership of the UAE after the death of his father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
